Pavel Latushka: “We should start saying “Good morning!” in Belarusian”

The first question was about bringing cultural values from private collections back to Belarus. Pavel Latushka suggested that the students joined the action of bringing back the GDL Statute.

Pavel Latushka: “An action is in process now and I advise all the present and citizens to join it. We are trying to bring back the 1588 Statute of the Great Duchy of Lithuania back to Mahilyou Museum. Of course, the Ministry of Culture will join the action. We are considering the possibility of using the republican budget for it…”

Commenting on “Eurovision” and the fact that Belarusians had not achieved anything there, the Minister expressed his opinion about the way to win at the contest.

Pavel Latushka: “You need a good and high-quality singer. The musical composition should also be composed by a talented person. The performance should be staged well. We have all seen the Swedish singer and her performance. A good PR campaign is the fourth component of success. It did not only include promo tours but Internet PR too. All this has to be organized by a talented producer who knows all “Eurovision” tricks”.

The traditional question, as the Minister calls it, was also asked: what should be done to make the Belarusian language popular? Pavel Latushka advised “starting with yourself”.

Pavel Latushka: “You have been asking questions in Belarusian. I would like to thank you for it because I am really pleased. When we start saying “Good morning!” and talking to friends in Belarusian the usage of the Belarusian language will be promoted in the society”.

The Minister of Culture confessed that he had read Vasil Bykau’s “In the Fog” not long before. And he advised everyone to read it.
