Belarusian officials discuss increasing oil production
In the spring, Lukashenka told officials to "dig and search"
The Ministry of Natural Resources of Belarus recently discussed the "maximum possible increase in oil production". Earlier, "in accordance with the instructions of Aliaksandr Lukashenka", a plan-schedule of geological exploration works was formed, calculated until 2030 and approved by the government. Now the first meeting of the Advisory Council on the Development of the Exploration Industry and the Use of Subsoil (it includes "leading experts in the field of geology") was held. It was mainly about oil. About the fact that the Scientific and Production Center of Geology and Belorusneft are going to work out a joint program to search for hydrocarbons in the southern part of the Pripyat Trough.
"The purpose of our meeting is to inform the Council about the work done for the current year and plans for 2025-2030, to hear healthy criticism that will help determine the right vector of development of the geological industry for the near future and the next 5 years," said Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Siarhey Maslyak, who took part in the meeting.
Back in the spring, Lukashenka set the new Minister of Natural Resources the task of searching for oil and other minerals in our country: "We must dig and search... I do not believe that there is not what we need in our subsoil. And the officials are trying - this year they began to look for oil in Vitsebsk region for the first time.
Belarus produces about 1.9 million tons of oil a year, which is 15% of the needs of the economy. The main oil deposits are located in the Homiel region.
