Belneftekhim: Fuel price growth is legal
The state concern has explained why the fuel prices have been increased.
The fuel prices have increased in connection with the increase of the dollar exchange rate in Belarus, deputy head of Belneftekhim Vital Paulau explained to BELTA.
Belarusian oil-processing plants work only with Russian oil, he noted. It is bought with foreign currency and the price is calculated with the help of a special formula. The cost of Russian oil increased for Belarus when Russia introduced its tax manoeuvre on January 1, 2015.
The Council of Ministers forbade increasing the prices on December 19. The restriction also applied to Beneftekhim. The concern could increase fuel prices only if the government permitted it.
“The decision to increase fuel prices on January 13 was previously approved,” Paulau explained.
