Domracheva and Kushnir announced sportsmen of the year in Belarus
Our country’s best sportsmen were awarded in Minsk on February 25.
The winners of the contest Triumph. To Sport Heroes of 2014 were awarded in Minsk on Wednesday. The best sportsmen were chosen by amateurs and the jury. About 500 thousand people took part in the voting, BELTA reports.
Biathlete Darya Domracheva was announced the best sportswoman of the year. She is a three-time Sochi Olympic champion and a Hero of Belarus (she also won in the nomination Result of the Year). Freestyler Anton Kushnir became the best sportsman of 2014. He is also an Olympic champion.
Belarus women’s biathlon team (Darya Domracheva, Nadzeya Skardzina, Lyudmila Kalinchyk and Nadzeya Pisarava) became the team of the year. Mikalai Kazeka who trains the Belarusian freestyle team became the coach of the year. His sportsmen won two gold medals in Sochi. Ala Tsuper who won in the nomination Breakthrough of the Year is one of them.
The project Triumph. To Sport Heroes 2014 is a joint project launched by the President’s Sports Club, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, the National Olympic Committee and the National State Broadcasting Company.
