Lukashenka meets Ukrainian politician with connection to Putin

Belarus has confirmed its position with regards to the quickest possible resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, Alyaksandr Lukashenka announced at the meeting with Ukrainian politician and statesman Viktor Medvedchuk on Monday, January 14.
"This misunderstanding (there is no other name for it) must be ended. The brotherly republics and peoples… We are making a present to our enemies," Lukashenka said.
The President served in the army in Ukraine and has visited the country many times, the President’s website reports.
"My distant ancestors come from the area between Chernigov and Kiev,” Lukashenka added.
