Pinsk Court acquits activist accused of taking part in protest he did not attend
Entrepreneur Andrei Vabishevich is very surprised to be acquitted.
Pinsk City Court has acquitted entrepreneur Andrei Vabishevich accused of participation in an unauthorized action. Policemen witnessed against him. He affirmed that he was not in Lenin Square during the action, Radio Liberty reports.
Vabishevich took part in the non-freeloaders’ march in Pinsk on March 26, the policemen said. They announced that they had detained him, made a report and sent the case to court. Contrary to Vabishevich’s statements, they said that ‘he was resisting the police and shouting out mottoes’.
The Pinsker managed to make the court study the videos recorded by security cameras in the square. The videos proved that he was telling the truth. The administrative case was closed.
The man was surprised to be acquitted. It took three hearings to consider the case. “It seems that they decided to acquit me because Raman Partasevich had been acquitted too. Policemen said that he was in Kurapaty but he was taking an exam at that moment,” Vabishevich thinks.
He is the only person acquitted in Pinsk. On the whole, policemen made reports against 13 people for participation in the non-freeloaders’ march in Pinsk.
