Surgeon responsible for amputation of boy’s arm to stand trial

Vitsebsk Province Investigation Committee has finished the investigation of the case. An 11-year-old boy broke his arm and it was put in a cast. As a result, he lost his arm. Investigators think that the surgeon must be made responsible for his negligence.

11-year-old Stas broke his arm last summer and came to Dubrounya hospital. The arm was put in a plaster and the boy was allowed to go home. He felt bad and returned to hospital together with his parents. However, the chief surgeon did not suspect any complications and did not do the necessary tests to study the boy’s health condition. The rpoblem resulted in gangrene and the arm had to be amputated.  

The investigators have sent the criminal case to court.
