American tanks to appear near Belarusian border (photo report)
Tanks of the U.S. armoured unit Ironhorse will be deployed in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland.
The detachment will consist of 700 soldiers, 20 M1A1 Abrams tanks, Bradley APCs and Stryker armoured vehicles. It will be one of the most serious troops contingent sent from the USA to the territory of the former Soviet Union. It is also the first time Americans are sending tanks to Europe after the cold war.
American tanks and APCs reached Latvia by sea. Ships delivered them to Estonia too. The American armoured vehicles will probably be deployed near Daugavpils (eastern Latvia) near the Belarusian-Russian border.
