Belarus Energy Ministry opens up on collapse of NPP construction
The Ministry of Energy reported that the collapse at the NPP construction site, reported by the TV channel Belsat was a partial damage to the formwork support structures:
"The information posted on the belsat.eu website, which was also used by the TUT.BY portal, probably refers to the event that occurred at the construction site on April 8, 2016, when there was a partial damage done to the formwork support structures during the laying of one of the household and utility room slabs."
The Ministry argued that this case is considered a defect of the preparatory work, the consequences of which have been eliminated in full compliance with the applicable regulations in the construction and technology. The defect was eliminated, the unit was prepared for concreting and approved by the Commission in accordance with the technical requirements.
The Ministry stresses that there have been no damage and destruction of the constructions approved by the customer at the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction sites. There is also constant state supervision on the part of the State Standard and Ministry of Emergency Situations.
