Belarus Military Glory Day marked today
The GDL Army of 30 thousand soldiers defeated the Army of Moscow that consisted of 80 thousands near Orsha 500 years ago.
It is one of the most famous battles in our history. However, the anniversary is marked unofficially.
Officials from Orsha District Executive Committee did not allow organizing a festival and concert in Krapivenskaya Field on September 6. Nevertheless, about 100 people came there (in the photo).
A great concert dated for the 500th anniversary of Orsha Battle will be organized in St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Hrodna at 7 p.m. on September 8. Belarusian, Lithuanian and Polish choirs will perform there.
Our neighbours – Ukrainians, Lithuanians and Poles – mark the anniversary with much more grandeur.
