The trial of Andrei Haidukou, a civil activist from Navapolatsk, is being held behind closed doors in Vitsebsk Regional Court.
Journalists and human rights defenders were not admitted to the court hall, as well as Haidukou's relatives, civil activists and diplomats.
Andrei Haidukou is allegedly accused of threatening the national security by looking for money at U.S. Embassy and calling for targeted sanctions.
Haidukou's lawyer has informed this to his mother.
A press conference dedicated to the Navapolatsk civil activist will be held in Minsk on Tuesday.
Vitsebsk regional court judge Halina Urbanovich will preside at the closed-door hearing of the state treason case.
