Spy suspect Andrei Haidukou to stand closed trial today
Haidukou's lawyer has informed this to his mother.
Volha Haidukova hoped for an open trial. She expected to finally find out the essence of the accusation as she believes in her son's innocence.
Now, Volha Haidukova is not sure whether she should go to Vitsebsk tomorrow or not. There's no hope she could get into the court building so she can only wait for the information from the lawyers, Radio Liberty reports.
The KGB Chief Valer Vakulchyk stated that the trial could be closed. Volha Haidukova thinks it must be open as all allegations against her son are senseless.
The trial against Andrei Haidukou, accused of "treason in the form of secret activity", has been appointed on June 12, 10 a.m., in the Vitsebsk regional court.
The 23-year-old operator at "Naftan" Navapolatsk was arrested on November 8 in Vitsebsk. According to the KGB's official information, he was arrested during "making a recess with information which may interest the foreign secret services". Haidukou faces 7-15 years of imprisonment for treason.
