Volha Mazuronak
At the Grandma's Marathon, which took place on June 22 in Minnesota, Belarusian runner Volha Mazuronak ran first.
She broke the record for this marathon and set a new personal record—2:23:52. Her previous record (2:23:54) was set in London in 2016.
As the Belarusian Sports Solidarity Fund noted, Volha Mazuronak's result became Belarus' national record, and World Athletics recognized it.
This is Mazuronak's second marathon in the last two and a half years. She is the 2018 European champion in this discipline. The Belarusian runner finished fifth at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
