"Spy" Andrei Haidukou on trial in iron cage
The trial of Andrei Haidukou, a civil activist from Navapolatsk, is being held behind closed doors in Vitsebsk Regional Court.
Mr Haidukou has been put into an iron cage in the court room, Radio Liberty reports. There is information about the witnesses being summoned to court: police officers. Andrei Haidukou has pled not guilty.
The civil activist from Navapolatsk is accused of "imposing a political course are contrary to national interests of the Republic of Belarus, looking for financial assistance in the U.S. Embassy and calling for for targeted sanctions." The young man is facing 15 years of in prison "for treason and espionage."
