Belarus stops listening to Russian artists
Russia is monitoring what the "post-Soviet countries" are listening to.
Belarus has stopped listening to Russian artists. In December 2024, musicians from Russia did not take a single place in the top 10 most popular songs in the service Apple Music (even in Estonia, Russian musicians were in the top ten), writes RBC.
The last time the decline in interest in Russian musicians in "post-Soviet countries" was recorded in 2022 (in 2023 it partially resumed). They are pushed out of the charts by Korean and American music.
Experts from the Russian Federation do not see any profound changes in this. They attribute the situation to low concert activity and weak promotion of Russian pop culture abroad.
Apple Music is one of the largest audio services in the world. Ratings are updated daily. RBC analyzed them for December 2022, 2023 and 2024 and compared the data. Last year, Belarus was the leader in terms of the number of Russian artists in the top 10 (nine out of ten). However, now the entire ranking of the most popular songs is represented by South Korean music.
