Ex-political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich jailed for 25 days
Young Front leader Zmitser Dashkevich is sentenced by Minsk's Pershamaiski District Court ahead of opposition-staged Chernobyl March on April 26.
Dashkevich was imprisoned for 10 and 15 days ‘for violation of the preventive regime rules’ and ‘disobedience to the police’. He admitted that he returned home later than necessary because of work (the ex-political prisoner is under preventive supervision that will be over at the end of May). However, Zmitser said that reports about his disobedience to the police were a lie, Radio Liberty reports.
Zmitser Dashkevich was also jailed for 12 days in March – he was detained before the protest action that was supposed to be organized near the Russian Embassy. This arrest is connected ‘with the Young Front’s possible activities before the Chernobyl Way’ and ‘the World Ice Hockey Championship’, the civil activist thinks.
Four Alternativa activists were jailed earlier this week.
