Writer Sviatlana Aleksiyevich gets award from French president
The Belarusian writer has become an officer of the French Republic’s Order of Merit.
Her book Red Man. Voices of Utopia was the reason for the award. The ceremony was held in the residence of French Ambassador Dominique Gazuy on October 21, tut.by reports. Aleksiyevich’s relatives and friends attended the party.
Svyatlana Aleksiyevich is the author of documentary prose War Does not Have A Women’s Face, Last Witnesses, Zinc Boys, Chernobyl Prayer, Secondhand Time. The books are part of the series Voices of Utopia.
