The blind man harshly detained by the police in Minsk metro has not been jailed, the Investigation Committee told Euroradio. The man is at large.

The clash of blind Dzmitry A. with the police occurred on September 18. The man has not appeared in the metro where he used to beg for money for four days. Only a small dog barks in response to knocking on the door of the man’s flat. It is not clear whether anyone feeds and walks the animal.

The incident is known because passengers tried protecting the handicapped man at the moment of the detention. A criminal case has been started against him. Dzmitry A. (an invalid of the fist disability group) bit a policeman and hit another one in the jaw, one of the policemen claimed.

Four policemen could not simply detain the blind man. They dragged him across the floor and he rolled down the ramp. No policemen were seriously injured during the operation.
