Karatkevich, Dzmitryeu two leaders for new Tell the Truth
Public association Tell the Truth! was founded on November 7 in Minsk by the decision of 65 delegates to a founding congress, reports BelaPAN.
The organization will be run by two leaders. Former presidential candidate Tatsiana Karatkevich was elected the chairperson of the organization. She will perform representative function on socio-political issues. Andrei Dzmitryeu has become the chairman of the National Council of the organization. He will deal with organizational and legal matters.
The founders noted that Tell the Truth! aims "to build a social state ruled by law in Belarus, to promote the development of civil society and national economy, and to strengthen patriotic traditions of the Belarusian people". The list of main tasks includes among others "advertising Belarus' achivements in social and economic spheres, analyzing social and economic problems and searching for solutions, promoting the principles of the rule of law, patriotism, social justice and equality in society."
Karatkevich plans "to take part in the parliamentary elections, to reach out to ordinary people in order to bring changes closer". A single list of candidates for seats in the parliament will be drawn for the election campaign. Karatkevich also noted that Tell the Truth! is ready to cooperate on this issue with representatives of all pro-democracy parties and organizations.
This will be a fourth attempt to have Tell the Truth! officially registered by the Ministry of Justice. The previous attemps in 2010, 2011 and 2013 were unsuccessful.
