National Bank: Belarusians calmly reacted to changes in deposits market
National Bank of Belarus said that Belarus citizens have reacted calmly to the changes in the deposit market. During an online conference on the BelTA website, Ilona Lyadnitskaya, head of the main regulation of banking operations' department of the National Bank, noted that the Decree #7 "On Attracting Funds to Deposits" is aimed at Belarusian banks forming a long-term resource base and its more efficient use. It should encourage long-term savings in the banking system.
Lyadnitskaya: "Undoubtedly, the National Bank expected population surge of activity in the deposit market. However, last week it was lower than expected."
Moreover, this activity has already reduced. "Thus, the situation develops as it was originally intended," said the representative of the National Bank.
