IMF: Credit allocation to Belarus depends on reforms
The IMF Executive Board has distributed its statement concerning Belarus.
The IMF has claimed that the possibility of further financing of Belarus depends on the strict macroeconomic policy that should be used by the authorities and their readiness for structural reforms. It is said in the statement distributed by the IMF after the post-programme monitoring discussion of Belarus. The discussion took place on August 29.
The Fund’s directors noted that “it would be necessary to demonstrate readiness for a strong economic policy and structural reforms” to get financial assistance from the fund, informs Radio Liberty.
Let us remind you that the Belarusian government asked the IMF for a $3-8bn credit in May.
