National Bank's currency exchange office does not sell dollars - just buys
It is absolutely possible to buy 5 thousand dollars or 4 thousand Euros in the currency exchange office, located at the railway station.
It was possible to buy only 30 dollars in the Belagroprombank's currency exchange office located in Karl Marx Street this morning. The cashier says that people do not sell much, but there will be several thousand dollars closer to the afternoon.
Belagroprombank's employee: “Every day may be different, but there was currency yesterday and the day before yesterday. Euros are rarer. People sell about 20-30 thousand Russian roubles, and in the end of the day there may be about 6 thousand dollars in the office”.
It was totally possible to buy a thousand dollars in the Absolutbank's office, located in the Central food supermarket. As for Euros, they failed to find even 500.
On the other hand, one could easily buy 5 thousand dollars or 4 thousand Euros in Belarusbank, located at the railway station.
An employee of one of Minsk banks says that people sell currency a little bit less than they used to because the rate is falling down. Besides, every bank establishes its own rates.
A bank's employee: “When we bought dollars for Br 8 300, naturally, people sold more. When someone buys for Br 7 500 today, and we buy for 7 200, naturally, people will bring us less”.
She cannot imagine what should be the rate to make people stop selling foreign currency at all.
A bank's employee: “We have not discussed that. No one has any authority here apart from the Emperor who can decide on this”.
Deputy Director of the Center for System Analysis and strategic Research of the National Academy of Sciences Alyaksandr Hatouski also gives no forecasts with regard to the rate which would make people stop selling currency.
Alyaksandr Hatouski: “You'd better ask the people? How could I know this? The point is, no one knows how much currency the population has exactly. It is difficult to evaluate this at the moment. All this is happening for about a week so it is too early to make conclusions”.
He also failed to express his opinion, under which rate people will stop selling currency. The expert says he needs more information for the analysis. However, where to take it?
Alyaksandr Hatouski: “The currency market was no one knows where for the last 6 months. What information or analysis can we talk about?”
Meanwhile, the National Bank's currency exchange office, located in Tolstoy Street, has reached a single rate. The dollar's rate makes Br 7 250, the Euro's rate - Br 9 915. However, it is impossible to buy currency there - only to sell.
