Prakapovich still receives salary as head of National Bank
Piotr Prakapovich has not been discharged or retired, he may get back to his working position.
Piotr Prakapovich is still officially considered a head of the National Bank. He has not been discharged or retired and still receives salary in the National Bank. Head of the Bank's informational administration Anatol Drazdou has informed this to Euroradio.
Anatol Drazdou: “Everything is precise and clear in the President's decree. The first deputy Jury Alymau will perform his functions during the rehabilitation period after a complicated and hard heart surgery. He performed these functions before, when Piotr Prakapovich was on a sick leave. Therefore, there's nothing surprising about this - this is a standard technical situation. He is just ill, and receives compensation for the period of temporary inability to work, in accordance with the labour legislation”.
Anatol Drazdou failed to answer the question about where Prakapovich spends his rehabilitation period - in hospital or in a country house, claiming he did not know that. As for the fact that Mr. Prakapovich has already reached "a state employee's critical age" and probably it is time for him to retire, the National Bank's representative recalled Alan Grispen, who headed the US Federal Reserve system and retired at 82. Anatol Drazdou is convinced that it is not easier to head the National Bank in Belarus than to manage such a structure in the United States.
