Ukrainian musicians to sing in Belarusian for Belarus
A campaign "Ukrainian Music for Belarus" starts in Ukraine.
Ukrainian musicians will sing protest-oriented songs in Belarusian language in the framework of this campaign. The campaign has been initiated by the civil organization Center for Regional Development "Cooperation without Borders".
The band "Fiolet" from Lutsk was the one to sing for Belarusians first. According to its frontman Siarhej Martyniuk, the idea to sing a song in Belarusian came to their minds long ago. The musicians chose Jan Mauzer's song "Place of Torment".
The idea to sing a Belarusian song with protest lyrics came to the minds of "Fiolet" members after the brutal dispersion of the peaceful demonstration on December 19 in Minsk. The band wishes to express solidarity with the people of Belarus.
