Russia wants to be ‘100%’ sure’ that Ukraine will not join NATO
Russia wants to be ‘100% sure’ that Ukraine is not thinking about joining NATO, Russian President’s press sectary Dmitri Peskov told BBC.
Nobody has given such a guarantee to Russia and the situation is alarming for Moscow as it is forcing it to take measures of precaution. Putin’s press secretary accused the West of trying ‘to surround’ Russia.
Europe has faced confrontation instead of cooperation, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier warned earlier. There is no reason to be optimistic in connection with the events in East Ukraine, the German diplomat thinks.
