Russian troops land in Kamchatka and Chukchi Peninsula
Russian paratroopers, marines and Navy begin exercise in Russia's Far East.
They sailed for 4 thousand sea miles before landing. Troops also landed in Sakhalin and one of the Kuril Islands, RIA Novosti reports. Paratroopers practiced various tasks together with the marines and ship crews.
A sudden combat readiness check-up started in the Far East and eastern Siberia on September 11. Up to 100 thousand soldiers are participating in it. A mobilization check-up of regional authorities and infrastructure is also being conducted.
