Sikorski: Russia wanted to divide Ukraine and give part to Poland
The Polish ex-Minister for Foreign Affairs has been interviewed by Politico Magazine.
"It was one of the first things Putin said to PM Donald Tusk in Moscow. He kept saying that Ukraine was an artificial country and that Lviv was a Polish city. Why don’t we solve the problem together somehow?” head of the Polish Sejm Radosław Sikorski said.
Putin started planning the aggression directed against Ukraine more than 6 years ago, Sikorski believes. He started thinking what Ukrainian regions would be profitable to seize. According to his information, the Kremlin thought that it would be profitable to annex Zaporiz'ka, Dnipropetrovsk and Odessa Oblasts. The annexation of Donets Basin controlled by pro-Russia militants now was considered to be unprofitable.
