Tsikhanouskaya urges EU to impose economic sanctions against Lukashenka

Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya has called on the EU to expand sanctions against the official Minsk, introduce economic sanctions, which should affect enterprises connected with with Alyksandr Lukashenka. She handed over to Brussels the Taraikousky List. "Every day of delay brings dozens of beaten, wounded and possibly killed people," Tsikhanouskaya said. "We count on the unanimous position of all countries for which human rights and democracy are important."

Earlier it was reported that Lithuania and Poland also offered the European Union to impose sanctions against enterprises supporting Lukashenka's regime. “We have initiated and continue to say that the EU should adopt a third package of sanctions both against legal entities and enterprises,” said Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda at a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda.

Today, personal EU sanctions are in effect. There are 55 persons in the "black list" (including Alyaksandr Lukashenka) responsible for falsifying the election results and acting violently against peaceful protesters.

As expected, on November 19 the situation in Belarus was discussed at a videoconference of the Council of the European Union on Foreign Affairs. Official Minsk threatened to respond to the possible introduction of economic sanctions.
