FM Makei explains Belarus’ stance in Ukraine conflict
Belarus' Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei says Minsk is not trying to get political dividends from this situation.
Belarusian Minister for Foreign Affairs Uladzimir Makei gave an interview to Belarus 1 on the evening of March 15. Belarus is not trying to get political dividends from its attitude to the conflict situation in Ukraine.
"Modern politics lacks generosity. A number of conflicts have been caused by some political ambitions. Belarus does not have such ambitions, we are not trying to get political dividends from our position as regards Ukraine,” BELTA quotes the diplomat. Belarus’ position as regards Ukraine and other conflicts depends on national interests, Makei noted.
War and peace are not an empty phrase for Belarusians, the Belarusian Foreign Minister said. “We have never wanted any war at our neighbours’. That is why Belarus has been doing and will keep doing everything to prevent the conflict in Ukraine and elsewhere.”
