US ease sanctions on Belarusian entities
The sanctions imposed on Belarusian enterprises will be prolonged until April 30, 2016 but they will also be partially relieved, the U.S. Department of the Treasury reported on October 29.
The sanctions were imposed on Belarusian Oil House, Belneftekhim concern, Belneftekhim USA Inc., plants Belshyna, Grodno Azot, Grodno Khimvolokno, NAftan, Lakafarba, Polotsk-Khimvolokno, BelaPAN reports.
The companies’ assets will remain blocked but transactions will be allowed.If the sum for their deals exceed $10 thousand, U.S. citizens will have to report it to the Department of the Treasury.
The sanctions were imposed on Belarus for human right violations in 2006.
The European Union suspended the sanctions imposed on 170 Belarusian citizens and 14 companies on October 29.
