Yarmoshyna: 25% turnout enough for second round of parliamentary elections
Chairman of the Central Election Commission Lidziya Yarmoshyna has spoken about the innovations expected in the upcoming parliamentary elections. She shared the news with reporters during the seminar on "Belaya Rus" participating in the election campaign, BelTA reports.
According to Yarmoshyna, 25% turnout will be enough for the second round of the election to become official. In addition, the parliamentary elections will now use the principle of relative majority in determining the winner. Earlier, the candidate officially won, if in the first round the scored more than 50% of votes, it will now be enough to get the highest percentage of votes.
The principle of relative majority will be extended to two rounds of parliamentary elections, although the first round will keep the necessary turnout of more than 50%.
