8 residents of Belarus detained in Abkhazia, face deportation

According to the information provided by Belarusian Partisan, all of them are protestants. They were going to combine a holiday with a useful thing - namely, to clean a large park on the outskirts of Sukhumi. This week, the citizens of Belarus were supposed to go back home, but some thieves stole all the documents from two of them -passports, registration certificates for the car, etc. The Belarusians actually cannot leave Abkhazia for Russia without documents.

The Belarusians were not able to get through to the office of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia in Rostov-on-Don, so they went to the reception of the President of Abkhazia. However, when he learned that the tourists were Protestants, he ordered they must leave the territory of Abkhazia in two days. After that they were detained by the police, and when released, those who had passports before did not receive them back. The inhabitants of Kobryn are likely to be deported today.

Belarus has not recognized the independence of Abkhazia.
