Andrzej Poczobut released
The journalist was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment with a 2-year respite in 2011.
Hrodna Lenin District Court has considered Andrzej Poczobut's case today, on September 23. The journalist has been released.
Poczobut was returned guilty of violating article 376, p.2, of the Criminal Code (“Slandering the President”) in July 2011. However, thanks to the respite, the journalist was let off.
Another criminal case was started against Poczobut according to the same article in 2012. The investigation was prolonged several times and then it was stopped “in connection with lack of evidence”.
Andrzej Poczobut lives in Hrodna and works for the Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza.
