Authorities forbid all social-democrats’ actions

Activists of the Social-Democratic Party (Hramada) have not been allowed to organize actions with social mottoes in Vitsebsk Homel and Brest Provinces.

They wanted to organize 6 pickets (in Navapolatsk, Rechytsa, Brest, Homel, Belaazyorsk and Mikashevichy) and a manifestation (in Brest) on May 7, deputy head of the party Hanna Kanyus told BelaPAN. The actions’ mottoes were “No to freeloaders’ tax!”, “Pension age for 55/60-year-olds!” and “Return military service, maternity leave and university studies to record of work!”.

All the refusals were explained by the fact that the activists had not signed agreements with the police, medics and street cleaners, Kanyus said. However, such agreements require the exact place and time of the event. She does not understand how they can be signed in advance because the authorities have the right to change the time and place of actions.
