Belarus detains EU-bound illegal migrants from Morocco
Illegal migrants from Morocco continue attempts to enter the European Union via Belarus. On 21 June, 4 Morocco nationals were detained in the Asmiany district when they tried to enter the neighboring Lithuania. The migrants were moving along the Minsk-Vilnius highway in two groups but the border guards spotted and detained them.
According to the press office of Belarus' State Border Control Committee, 2 more Morrocans, 19 and 24 were detained in the Hrodna district some 5 km off the border with Poland. The young men admitted they were trying to get into the European Union, seeking a better life. They are facing a huge fine and deportation from Belarus. They will also be banned to enter our country for five years.
The illegal migrants apparently arrived from Russia, the host nation of the onging 2018 FIFA World Cup, where Morocco is not performing well.
