More than 140 trials of Belarus pro-independence protest participants were held in December and January in Belarus, the human rights site Viasna reports. The ptotests were held on December 7, 8, 20 and 21.
According to the estimates of human rights activists, the total amount of fines in these cases amounted to 99,652.5 BYN (about $47,000) on January 15. Eleven people were sentenced to a total of 225 days of arrest. About a dozen more trials are still to be held.
A charity campaign BY_Help was launched to help pay fines in Belarus. More than $18,000 was collected to help the repressed in five days of its operation. The money will be used to pay fines and daytime detention fees of the convicted activists.
The fundraising campaign continues, and everyone can show solidarity and support the imprisoned activists.
