Belarus town wins EU grant to build football stadium

The town of Ščučyn in Hrodna region will have a stadium worth 500 000 euros to be built with funding from the European Union. The project was submitted by the education, sports and tourism department at the local district administration and eventually won the grant, Hrodzienskaja Prauda reports.
The municipal stadium in Ščučyn was constructed in 1993 and partially reconstructed two years ago. Under the EU grant, the stadium will undergo complete renovation. 3200 new plastic seats will be added. The stadium will have a canopy to protect fans from rain. All infrastructure, furniture, plumbing will be replaced. There will also be a digital screen (3x6 meters).
Pressball notes there is only an amateur team in this town. It plays in the Hrodna regional championship. If the project is successfully implemented, the stadium's quality will exceed the quality of arenas that many Belarus Premier League football sides can only dream about.
