Brussels to discuss visa regime facilitation for Belarusians
Belarus is the only Eastern Partnership member state where citizens continue to pay 60 euro instead of 35 for Schengen visas.
The second round of Belarus-EU negotiations about the visa regime facilitation and readmission is appointed for November 24 and 25 in Brussels. Representatives of the Belarusian Ministries of Foreign and Internal Affairs will take part in the meeting.
The first round of the negotiations was held in Minsk on June 12 and 13 in Minsk, BELTA reports. Belarus suggested adding a number of provisions to the treaty. All of them were aimed at the visa regime simplification and trips of EU and Belarusian citizens in general. The Belarusian delegation expects to hear a response to these suggestions in Brussels.
The EU invited Belarus to the visa regime facilitation negotiations in 2011. Belarus is the only Eastern Partnership member whose citizens still have to pay €60 instead of€35 for Schengen visas.
