CEC's Lazavik suggests universal seasons for any Belarusian election
The Central Election Commission started getting ready for this year’s parliamentary election on February 1. “We are not focused on an election date be it September 11 or any other day. We have to do our job in any case and it is not connected with certain dates,” CEC chairperson Mikalai Lazavik told Radio Liberty.
All possible changes to the election campaign may be discussed only after CEC chairperson Lidziya Yarmoshyna meets with Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
September 11 is not a convenient date for the elections because the election campaign will have to be conducted in summer, the official stated. Most voters go on vacations in this time.
"I have been thinking about choosing one date for all elections like in some other countries. Let us chose the second or third week of November for it. Or March. In my opinion, these are the best variants,” Lazavik suggested.
