Dmitri Medvedev: Russia does not guarantee Ukraine’s territorial integrity

At the same time, speculations about Russia’s intention to annex part of Ukraine are propaganda and the situation cannot be compared to Crimea, Medvedev claimed.

According to the 1994 Budapest Memorandum on Security Guarantees, the United States, Russia and Great Britain agreed to guarantee Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Foreign partners should provide other guarantees, Medvedev told Bloomberg. He wants the EU and US not to interfere in Ukraine’s domestic policy and not to persuade the country to join NATO. He also needs guarantees that the population of East Ukraine will be able to keep speaking Russian and that no ‘crazy Right Sector’ will come there.
