Entrepreneurs gather for anti-crisis forum in Minsk
Entrepreneurs will hold an anti-crisis forum at the hotel Belarus in Minsk at 11 a.m. on January 11. It will be organized by the republican association Perspectiva. The organization has sent invitations to the forum to the Prime Minister and head of the President’s Administration asking them to conduct negotiations at the forum “to solve the conflict in entrepreneurs’ circles”.
The association has urged the local authorities to consult entrepreneurs ‘on the situation that is making them close their business because they are unable to stick to the laws regulating their work’. Perspectiva has warned officials about the negative consequences that the Belarusian economy and society are going to suffer. “Empty markets and trade centres are a way to express entrepreneurs’ protest”. This is not ‘Christmas vacations’ like some officials say. See here for the full text of the appeal.
Entrepreneurs need certificates for their goods as of January 1, 2016. However, it is almost impossible to get such certificates in Russia, the country where most of the goods are brought from, entrepreneurs say. That is why many people have stopped working. Perspectiva has asked the authorities to discuss the problem and find a solution many times.
