EU ready to discuss agreement with Kyiv at Vilnius summit
The European Union is ready to discuss the Association Agreement with Ukraine if Kyiv changes its decision before the summit starts.
Linas Linkevičius, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, has said this, ВВС reports. The Lithuanian official does not exclude that the authorities of Ukraine can change the decision in the very late moment.
Previously, the Ukrainian government decided to suspend preparation to signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union. On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin explained that in case Ukraine signs the free trade agreement with the EU he would nullify all the customs fees with Russia.
According to the Russian leader, this will let the European goods to come directly to the Russian market through the territory of Ukraine, which would damage Moscow's economic interests.
The Eastern Partnership summit will be held in Vilnius on November 28-29.
