Ex-policeman kills inspector in Talachyn District (updated photo)
Police detain a 55-year-old inhabitant of Talachyn suspected of murdering an environment protection officer during a raid against poachers.
The tragedy occurred during a hunt in Talachyn District. Orsha environmental protection inspectors organized a raid neat the village of Petrashy on the morning of April 11. They had been informed about poachers noticed in the area.
One of the inspectors noticed an armed man. He tried approaching the man to check his documents but the latter shot at the inspector and fled. The inspector died instantly.
His partner reported the incident to the police and described the attacker. The police detained the suspect – it was a 55-year-old inhabitant of Talachyn, the website of the Investigation Committee reports.
A criminal case for killing a person on duty has been started against the man. A mobile criminal laboratory worked on the spot. Policemen found a rifle, cartridges and a used case there.
The inspector had two children. They have become orphans, Vitsebsk Courier reports.
The detained is an ex-policeman and worked as a driver in one of the organizations subjected to the District Executive Committee. He had a previous conviction for a property theft and an arson attempt but served his sentence several years ago.
