Ex-political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich marks 5th Square anniversary in church
Ex-political prisoner Mikalai Statkevich marked the 5th anniversary of the dispersal of the Square in church. He came to pray in Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral with his wife and associates at 11 a.m. on December 19, Radio Liberty reports.
Presidential candidate Mikalai Statkevich was arrested together with many other people after the dispersal of the protest action on December 19, 2010. He was imprisoned for 6 years on May 26, 2011. The politician refused to appeal for Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s pardon many times. He was released by the President on August 22, 2015.
