Foreign visitors can register in Belarus online from 2019
Belarus plans to begin online registration of foreign visitors as early as in 2019, Interior Ministry's Department for Citizenship and Migration Head Aliaksei Biahun said in an interview with the ONT TV channel.
Last week, President Lukashenka signed an edict extending the visa-free program for foreign visitors up to 30 days provided they enter Belarus at the Minsk international airport. The decree updated the list of countries to which it applies, having removed the nations that have bilateral agreements with Belarus on visa-free travel already in place.
Biahun reminded that foreigners are currently obliged to register with the police within five days since arrival, exclusing public holidays and official days off. If a visitor stays at a hotel, an agroturism farm or a health resort, registration is carried out by the host.
Since February 2017 when Belarus introduced a 5-day visa-free waiver for tourists, over 140 000 foreigners have visited this country. Nearly 1000 people applied to prolong their stay in Belarus.
