Free Theater actress may have sustained skull fracture during crackdown
Free Theater actress Yana Rusakevich ended up in emergency care after a riot police soldier stroke her with a baton over the head during the Freedom Day rally on March 25 in Minsk. She may have suffered a skull fracture, reports nn.by.
The young woman says she was recording the rally on her phone when the police began dispersing the protest and dragged her to a prisoners transportation truck. "I told them I did not want them to drag me and continued recording. I didn't even realize they hit me. I recall some friends and journalists from Dozhd TV coming and helping me to get up. Then, I hugged them and walked towards the philarmonic hall," Rusakevich said.
The actress reached Y Gallery when she felt sick. She took a cab to go home but on the way she vomitted and blacked out. Her family members had to call an ambulance.
When in the hospital, the head scan showed a possible skull crack.
The police visited her in the hospital. According to Yana, they opened a criminal case in the beating.
The woman was diagnozed with concussion. She will remain in the hospital for more checks and treatment.
