Hrodna inhabitant ‘wins’ 500 thousand pounds and loses $40 thousand
The woman has been swindled.
43-year-old inhabitant of Hrodna has been deceived by Internet swindlers. She received an e-mail informing her that she had won 500 thousand pounds in a lottery. It was necessary to pay for the registration of documents in order to receive the money, the letter said. The woman believed it although she had not bought any lottery tickets.
The woman paid in tranches of 1500-200 dollars. She transferred about 40 thousand dollars abroad. Having understood that it was a swindle, she went to the police. The money was received in Nigeria and Great Britain. A criminal case has been started, Hrodna Province police reports.
