Independence March ends with unrest in Warsaw (photo)
Poland marked Independence Day on November 11.
The traffic was blocked in the centre of Warsaw on the morning of November 11, tvn24.pl reports. A few manifestations were held in the Polish capital. President Bronisław Komorowski headed the march Together for Independence.
More radical forces also organized the traditional Independence March. Clashes with the police occurred. The action participants threw petards and stones at policemen, broke the pavement and uprooted road signs. The police poured coloured water on them to be able to find them later. Smoothbore was also used, some sources report.
Over 200 people have been detained. Some people had petards on them. At least 4 people (two policemen and two participants of the Independence March) were injured.
