Lithuania's foreign minister in Minsk to discuss EU-Belarus ties
Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius begins a two-day working visit to Belarus on July 24.
Lithuania's foreign policy chief is scheduled to meet Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei. Linkeviciou will also hold a meeting at the Belarusian government and is expected to meet Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich. BELTA state news agency notes the side will discuss Belarus-Lithuania relations, cooperation between Belarus and the European Union.
Linas Linkevicius's visit to Belarus is a visit in response after Uladzimir Makei visited Lithuania on February 28 - March, 2014 at the invitation of his Lithuanian counterpart.
BelaPAN adds that the Lithuanian foreign minister is also planned to meet with representatives of Belrusian opposition, civil society and relatives of political prisoners. In July - November 2012, Linkevicius served as Lithuania's ambassador in Minsk.
