Lukashenka congratulates Belarus on Independence Day
He wished the people "strong health, happiness, fruitful work for the benefit of the beloved country, peace and prosperity".
"This remarkable date in the historical calendar of our country symbolizes liberation of the Belarusian people from the German-fascist invaders. 70 years ago sharp we managed to defend our Motherland's peaceful future, and we should keep this priceless achievement for our descendants," the greeting states.
"We managed to overcome many challenges on our way to independence. Thanks to the self-sacrificing work and help of the fraternal Soviet nations we rebuilt the republic from ruins, got the right to decide on our own destiny and occupied a decent place in the international community. After all these years, we have become stronger, wiser and are now ready to respond to any challenge of modern life," Alyaksandr Lukashenka says.
